Hi,

I'm interested in your opinions of the best wood stain products and sealants to use on wood window frames. This will be for the outside.

The house is approx 15 years old and two of our windows are starting to leak.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Also any tips on techniques for performing the task are also appreciated.

Thank you.

For most window/exterior timber jobs I do, I tend to stick to one of the SADOLIN PRODUCTS. They give long lasting protection, are easy to use and many of them come in a good range of colours. Check out the link to find one which is most suitable for your circumstances.

As WoodYouLike says, check for rot, remove loose sealants and undertake any repairs before attempting to stain. You can seal/perimeter point after staining, but damaged timber must be repaired/replaced before. Any product you choose will only protect a solid substrate.

Thanks guys.

Appreciated. I'll take a look at your suggestions and have a look for rot before going ahead with any work.
