Hello,

For cutting in on walls/ceiling using normal matt emulsion paint, is it better to use a special type of paintbrush specifically designed to assist with this, or is it better to use those miniture paint pads (e.g. the ones by Stanley) and just use that for all the edges etc?

Thanks

Steve

Not sure if I understand the qustion 100% BUT are you asking the best way/method/tool to paint the joint/corner of the ceiling and a wall?

If so: If you are painting the ceiling too.
First paint the celing with roller all over. Use a wide brush and simply brush over the corner area NB this means you will paint one the wall as well! This is correct dont worry. Make sure you paint the corners well with a brush and cover the surface below. Then on your second coat use the brush first on all the corners, ensuring you paint the corner well then use roller and try to get as new the corner as you can withou touchuing it, maybe an 1-2 inches from the corner. (With this method you dont have to worry about going onto the wall because you will make the final brush into the corner with whatever you paint on the wall)

Then paint your wall with roller, just get the paint on the wall. When you reach the tricky corner area at the ceiling you know the ceiling is fully covered(previous point ensured this). All you have now is one corner to paint. USE a small brush and paint into the corner using the TIP of the brush not the side. By pushing into the corner and brushing into the corner you will get a smooth/straight/neat line. You can get a specialist corner brush- end is tapered. Just needs practise and a steady hand!!!
