best way to deal with this?

I've got two bits of plasterboard that i've had to patch in on my ceiling.

One small bit which was to install shower plumbing
the larger piece (yet to screw into joists) from when i put my feet through the ceiling

What is the best way to deal with this? Fill in gaps around edges, tape and multifinish?

The larger sheet will be approx 1.5m x 1m
