Best way to make pipes fit radiator

I would just do it as it's done now. If your new rad lines up with the old one at one end then you only need to make adjustment to the other end. I would disconnect at the first 90 degree coming out of the floor (you'll need a blowtorch if you want to keep the heights the same) and make up a new connection piece.
 
And you`ll need to get the water out of the pipes lower than the drain cock to use a soldered fitting :wink:
