Ikea Malm bed has impact damage on the headboard and I wanted to know the best way to repair/salvage this.

The headboard is constructed with the following

- Particleboard,
- Fibreboard,
- Plastic edging
- Honeycomb structure paper filling

It could be filled and then sanded and repainted though I think you would need to fix something to the rear of the front face in order to get the filler to attach to something. Much as you would for a hole in plasterboard. Or as mentioned might just be easier to reclad it. If memory serves these types of Ikea panels are much like very cheap doors with a chipboard surround and honeycomb inside, terrible really but they work OK on the proviso they're not abused in any way, as is evident.

A piece of melamine cut to size and the glued over could work and be a lot easier than trying to fill etc

Thanks lads. Some great suggestions.

Think the easiest/quickest way will be to just clad it with something like 9mm Ply or melamine.
Cover it with fabric, or IKEA sell replacements
Surprisingly, they don't.

If you want the headboard, you have to buy the entire bed.

Firewood.
I have no idea what you are suggesting.

Is that where the head board was banging on the wall? ;)

Slow down a bit and take your time!
