I had an unused chimney breast blocked in with plasterboard (then plastered). I am sure I now have a problem with damp (photos attached). I plan to cut out a hole and attach an air vent, which I hope will solve the problem.
The chimney is capped at the top, previously was an open fire then a gas fire (which was disconnected and removed) - hence blocked in now.
My question is, do I have to use a particular air vent and size (was thinking of choosing one which also has an insect mesh on it as I don't want any creepy crawlies getting in).
