Hi all - I want to make this wood surround (my flat roof for bathroom) ready for painting. I cant afford to replace the wood and just want to repair as far as possible.

Question - what wood filler is 'best' for such a job or are there alternatives that I dont know of?
And how would I keep these corners crisp when filling?

EDIT - should have said , it's outside

I would cut away the end and splice in a new bit of timber using epoxy resin.

2 pack (car filler) will soon be pushed out of the cracks that you currently have. You could use epoxy resin fillers which are slightly flexible but they will probably fail as well.

my thoughts
cut back to previous timber where at least 90% soft timber would be removed then treat and repair the soft then replace the removed timber and fully treat all timber then clad with 9mm cladding

I dunno, did it make you laugh? (that would be my personal test for something being a joke)
