at the mo i have an inbuilt programmer would like to put an external one on. does not seem to be any info in the manual about being able to fit one. is it possible to fit one and which is compatable? any help thanks very much

Yes. If you dont have a roomstat then its fitted where the link for extenal controls will be. If you do then its slightly more complicated.

Page 17 of the installer manual; shows a 0v switching line on the main terminal block for a room stat; something like a Drayton LP111 or LP711 will do the job... Don't forget to leave the old clock on constant 
hey yeah i have a room stat. how tricky is it to fit one which will still be able to have the room stat
you know who you are out there 
Just wire 1 of the boiler 0v wires to the clock "common"; then the clock "on" to the room stat "common" and then the room stat "on" to the other 0v on the boiler.
