hi can anyone help, my boilers been playing up for a while, when we ran two consecative baths the boiler would shut down (redlight) then yesturday it wasnt working went to the boiler and the pressure was at 0 i know where the slight leak is so topped it up pressed the button, worked fine, then when the house had reached temp it must have decided to stop again, the red light isnt on i have got hot water the but no ch, read the manual so i think i know how to read the fault codes and there doesnt seem to be anything showing up,

also took the stat of and connected wires then left them apart, makes no difference.

please please help.

Its difficult to guess whats wrong!

Obviously not bothering to top up the pressure is not good for the boiler.

Try a hard reset by depowering the mains supply for three minutes.

Also edit the heading to show the actual boiler model as shown on the sticker on the flap.

When its not providing heating put in diagnostic mode see if its showing a demand for heating. You can put it in permanent display by moving the rear pcb link one pin towards the front and leave it there.

Check that the auto air vent cap is just loose as you may have air in the boiler. Alternating three min HW and three min Ch might help that to clear.

Are you in Cov?

Hi Tony,

Yes i am, from Cov, spooky.

do normally keep on top of the system never had it go to 0 before,

just trying powerdown as im replying,

im getting confused because the hot waters ok cant figure why ch not,

if i connect the two wires together from the thermostat would this make the boiler think it need to fire up, sorry im not a plummer but i am fairly competent.

The diagnostic mode will show if the boiler is registering a demand for CH which is the two greens flashing together.

Even if it is, the water flow route is different and therefore the movement of the system flow switch can be different. This would also be shown by the diagnostics!

Cov? Well the Garda is only sold in B&Q and the one opposite Morrisons is the only one in that area and so very few are fitted in L/S area.

Good tip though, the chicken muglai at the Bengal Delight is the best that I have tasted anywhere in the country! Also very tasty is the new place on Far Gosford Street but the portions are tiny! Eat as much as you like in the Old Fire Station at Meadow Pool is good if you are hungry and just want to eat a lot rather than a romantic evening meal.

Hi Tony,

You frequent this area a bit then,

my boiler came from a builders merchants in cov.

sorted it out, dont know why but when i isolated the stat and bridged 1-3 it fired up then when i put the stat back just to make sure i hadnt got a broken wire it also fired up and seems to be ok, having no heating for a day is not much fun, thinking of going on a heating course, like this fault solving problems especially as i work outside on the landscaping, not much fun this time of year.

anyway thanks again for the feedback,

The brand name of Garda is meant to be exclusive to B&Q ! So I dont see why a builders merchant is selling them unless they buy them at B&Q and sell them on.

We also do boiler repairs in the Cov and Warwick areas.
