we\\\'ve had a problem with this boiler for well over a year now, and nobody seems to be able to fix it!!
The problem is the lockout light. Some days it will NOT reset. I press the reset button, the fan runs, the ignition starts, but the boiler locks out before it fires. This may happen all day for days, but then it will be fine for months!! Everytime i call someone out, they charge the earth to \\\'clean it out\\\' or \\\'change the pressure switch\\\' etc... but a day later, it locks out again, usually when it\\\'s freezing!
The only other thing you have to go on, is it seems to go off alot when the hot water tap is turned on. You can reset it and the water will heat, but the first call for water seems to trip it!
I really hope there is someone out there that can shed some light on this now very annoying problem. :(

You are posting the same question again with the same spelling/typing fault!

This is a very simple problem and will be either the ignition PCB or the fan/venturi or air pressure test point if the air pressure switch has really already been changed and is working.

Why not get a proper competent CORGI registered engineer?

You could even get the Manufacturers engineer by calling them on 01902 304400.

Tony

Thanx Agile, The last two engineers that we called out WERE Corgie engineers, this is why we are so fed up as both knew how to charge, didn't fix the problem & suggested expensive parts heat exchanger.

They may have been CORGI registered but they were clearly not "proper competent" engineers.

So what is the situation with the boiler now?

Tony

Bearing in mind
Some days it will NOT reset.
ignition PCB I can understand
or the fan/venturi That I can't
or air pressure test point And that - eh??

Are you suggesting that the APS being in the wrong state will prevent resetting?

Chris, to reset you have to have a demand for heat !

Few users know that and think that its just not resetting!

To reset, you must turn on a hot tap first !!!

Tony

Agile, the situation at the moment is still the same! The boiler has been working fine with the exception of a couple of times, but it reset ok. It will, no doubt, fail us when we need it the most, as usual! Thanx for showing an interest.

Hi I've seen this before on the BIASI Prisma 24E.. If you can hear the ignition sparking but the boiler will not light then it may be the transparent ignition cables from the HT module.. The cables can break down resistance (usually as it enters the grommet to the chamber) and actually arc to chassis. You can try pushing both cables through the grommet slightly to move the insulation breakdown... If you can see the boiler safely with the lights out inn the evening, you can observe where the insulation breakdown is and act accordingly by either moving the cable slightly or replacing the electrodes..

I have had to put up with the veay same problem for years. tis boiler is a desaster. ive had a number of gorgi and british gas here to fix it. they changed fans and other parts. it seem to be ok i summer but the min winter arrived to thing would not spark up. for some reason it appears to have settled down over the past two winters but it have developed anonther fault for crying out loud. it wont switch off when you turn the hot tap off. flames can seen through the pilot window after you turn off the hot tap. i have to switch it of manually. this boiler is a pile of dog poo.

If it is properly maintained and repaired these are one of the most reliable boilers ever made.

You dont seem to have the patience to get a competent engineer to deal with it.

Why dont you try kevinDGas who posts on here. He is now based in Southampton but often does repairs in Bournmouth.

Hi, thanks for your reply tony. ive had trouble with this combi since the first day it was installed in 98.

It has always give me a hard time. i once i had army of british gas engineers working on it. they tested it and replaced fans and other parts only for them to walk away thinking they had fixed it only to see that later in the day the problem was still there. but im taking about another long term fault know where is appears to flame ok in summer but not winter. in these past two winters it seems to flaming up ok throughout the cold whether for know. but as i said. i was talking about an old problem and not the current one where it wont flame out after i turn off the hot tap.

i just need to get suggestions to what the current problem could be before i call out another army of engineers.

You just need one engineer and if they dont know whats wrong they can telephone me and I will tell them.

I dont think Kevin would have any problem with it.
