Big DIY project

Right, I've decided to take one massive DIY project over the winter (not wisest idea I know). I'm looking to construct a conversation in time for next summer. So I thought I could open this thread and start to share my progress and issues I may have.

First Issue is to with the purchase on materials. Do I go with plastic or glass windows and roof? My budget is to tight but I'm not sure what the difference is? Can anyone identify the pros and cons for both?
