Does anybody know if Essex flanges are available in bigger sizes , say 42mm or 54mm?

So I've taken your advice and phoned them.
They go up to 3 inch.
What also I find interesting is why are they called essex flanges, when they are and always have be made in Liverpool?
What about Surrey flanges and Warwich flanges?

Maybe it's because the gaskets are so thick

It's worth speaking to them about your application because they supply different gasket materials for different applications. The standard ones as sold with units supplied by BES for example are too hard for use in DHW cylinders.

Also avoid smearing any type of sealant on the gasket face because it makes the gasket creep out as you tighten the nuts.
