I got a nice old Belfast sink recently but have been having a nightmare with the waste. It doesn't seem to attach to anything I can find. Went to a plumbers merchant (B&Q useless) and they sold me a shiny new waste. Thing is I can't remove the big brass nut off the old waste... A stilson just seems to slip off. Is there a better way? The nut is 57mm wide. The threaded outlet pipe is 45mm ID 60mm OD

Make a nick in the nut (junior hacksaw) and put a screwdriver into the nick, then tap it round with a hammer. If no go, "nick" it deeper and split the nut.

If its ally it will split easily, If brass will take a bit more effort. Drill through it maybe,

Attacked it with an angle grinder. Came off, then released with a lot of hammer and chisel action!
Thanks for the advice!
