Isn't anything in a bathroom 0.4 - So upstairs lights, shower etc?

No. That requirement was removed when the 16th came into force.

and will be re-introduced in the 17th if they get their way..
everything in the bathroom will need to be RCD protected.. lights, fans, shaver points showers, towel rads etc...

No big deal. My bathroom just has a lighting circuit. If it was a new circuit being installed, it could easily have had a RCD FCU with DP switch fitted above the bathroom door. No more effort than fitting a fan isolator.

A bathroom with an electric shower, usually would be installed with an RCD anyway.

I think I left school about that time.

After a long and satisfying career as a headmaster

What year was it?
