Bitumen primer v bitumen cold joint sealer

Fixing some driveway issues, and so far used bitumen cold lay spray, but it's not cheap.

Is it basically the same stuff as the photo here, as the tin is much cheaper? if so I could paint over old tarmac, apply the cold lay tarmac and compact, then paint edges

Will save me.
