Black heat resistant paint for fireplace

Here is my fireplace:

You can see the problem with the discoloured / damaged areas.

This is the fire:

I am looking for a suitable black paint / spray to cover this up.
Does anyone have any recommendations or alternative solutions.

Dan..great info..

Theres a difference between heat resistant paint and flame resistant paint..

Theres plenty of 'heat' resistant enamels out there intended for car engines and hobs etc..but they may catch fire if exposed to a naked flame

I was thinking ordinary black emulsion...but im not too sure to be honest.

Try b and q or specialist companies like bolloms paints in beckenham

The other thing you may be able to use is zeebrite..its a rub on black finish for fireplaces..it might stick to the plaster...it might not.
