black mortar

just bought a bag of black mortar to point some back garden flags, do i need to mix sand to the mortar,??

sounds like you don`t........I`m guessing it`s a ready mixed, ready coloured dry mix ........MORTAR as you say ........or Cementone colourant

Is it a completly blank bag with no details of what is inside it?

I think your statement of buying some 'mortar' contains a little clue
