Blanking off UPVC door

I’ve got a UPVC door at the back of my house that we never use. Some upcoming building work will make it impossible to open. Rather than have a useless door is there an easy way to replace it with something that’ll look neater? I’m thinking of either a blanking panel that could look as far as possible like a wall, or a fixed glazed unit (glazed over the entire area currently occupied by the door). I don’t want to brick up the door as that’ll intrude into the room too much.

Any suggestions of what might work please?

I’ve decided to make do for now by just removing the handles and fitting blanking plates like these:

You can only fit one of those plates, as they rely on being screwed through from the handle on the other side.

Depending on security requirements, you could glue then on I guess....
