Bleach good for wood shingles ?

What i know about shingles can be written on a stamp.
Was interested to find out though and found this.

If you use a bleach solution - do you have gutters? Because if not the solution could run down the siding, and streak stain unless the siding is washed off as well as the roof.
This being a UK based Forum its best to look elsewhere for up to the minute advice on shingle roofs.
AAMOI: some stained and glazed shingles can look pretty awful but maybe there are now more modern approaches to this.
