Hi,
I've just installed a new hot water cylinder. The system uses a Johnson and Starley Hijan 6 water heater/circulator and I can't work out how to refill the circulator pipes with water. I've tried opening the drain valve, but no water comes out.

All pipes from the water tank are opened. The system has no obvious connection to the water supply - I can only assume they are somewhere under the upstairs floorboards.

Any helpwould be greatly appreciated.

Assuming there is no connection from circulator pipework to a header tank in roofspace, the circulator was probably filled via a primatic cylinder .this type of cylinder contains a device to fill the system.
usually, the circulator cold feed/vent pipes would rise to roof space from cylinder position. If none, its primatic.
