Blinds wont lock

Alright lads
I have some 2inch wooden slatted blinds on my patio doors and the problem is the locking mechanism, it has a metal pin in which the cordes run over and a metal wheel with teeth which turns and locks the blinds into position, all housed by an open topped plastic square box problem is when I pull up the blinds the metal toothed wheel jumps out the housing and am unable to lock the blinds in an open position, any ideas on what could fix the problem would be greatly received thanks in advance

Either a new mechanism or you could fit a cord grip like they use on boats [ boating shop] something like this.
