We are having a new garage built. Builders have recommended using Block n Beam. Its over a clay foundations im wondering if this is better also due to heave.

MY concern is they spec this right are the beams or blocks larger for garage the garage floor, also the span or floor area is is 6.5m x 6.5m wide will it need more then just a center span? Ive read somewhere about 100m concrete on top and mesh ?

I dont want it cracking as i want to lay an epoxy floor over it soon after.

Many thanks in advance.

Find out from the system manufacturer if it's suitable for vehicles. And confirm with building control - if they are involved.

If there is a designer involved, confirm with them if the design is being altered.

Suspended floors will flex and bounce.

Heave is only an issue if there are trees close by.
Whoever supplies the beam and block floor usually provides a design and drawing so should account for the relevant vehicle loading.
