Hi

My blockdriveway alongside and in front of my bungalow was put in by previous owner, and i'm keen to keep it maintained (she spent over 9k on it!).

I've bought block paving sand (sharp sand i think it was) and have been filling in joint gaps that have opened up due to erosion, or in some cases the bricks have sunk very slightly (5mm or so) along two tramlines caused by my car following the same path every time. Only really noticeable as the tramlines disappear under the garage door, or when it rains there are a handful of puddles. Not too worrying i dont think.

Anyway, long story short, when i put the sharp sand into the gaps, i naturally expect to top it up a few days later but i'm finding the gap just keeps coming back - i'm on the fourth of fifth go in some places - i must be blowing away again i guess.

What am i doing wrong, do i need to wet the sand after its put in?

Thanks!!
Mike

Best to take up the areas that have dropped, add more screed sand, compact, then screed of to correct levels, replace blocks.

Check that all the edges are secure and not being pushed out, add kiln dried sand, sweep it in on a dry day, then run the whacker plate over.
