how much block paving do i require to do 2.5 mtrs, how many blocks will this be, could a good diy man lay this small amount

your traditional block is 200x100 mm, so 50 per msq, and it's dead easy to lay small areas - have a google for 'pavingexpert'. it's all detailed on that guys site.
