Sunday morning woke to no CH. pump had seized. Bought new pump, fitted it, it works but can\\\'t bleed upstairs rads, or pump. Checked header tank, eventually drained down system header tank still full. tied up ball cock, removed pump, opened valves nothing. tried pressurising cold feed pipe, nothing. Eventually thought sod it, cut out 10cm of pipe. still no water, pipe solid with what looks and feels like sand (not oxide/sludge)
possibly scale. cut another 10cm of pipe out, got wet. Once I replace the 20 cm of pipe I should be OK.
The question. This has got me worried. The water I drained out seems cleanish & treated, little scale, no sludge. I\\\'m concerned this will happen again, so I\\\'m thinking of putting a compression jointed (or similar) replacement pipe in so if necessary I can easily remove it and clean it.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
