I fitted 38 KW combi boiler about two years ago. I Powerflushed the system Like I always do (I do give it a good going over) I have a Kamco Magnet in in line and I fitted a Magnaclean as always.

I have inspected the boiler for the last two years and the magnaclean was pretty clean on both visits.

But the heat exchangeer has blocked with what I can only prosume is debri.

The manufactuers have walked away from it. Have I got a leg to stand on?

I'm going aolng tomorrow to clean it out and get her going. But feel pretty disapouinted as I really do do my instalations to the book as best I can.

Unlucky mate sounds like you done everything right what boiler was it that you fitted ?

They havent gone bust they just dont brand their boilers as Dimplex in the UK anymore, they are actually Halsteads, the heat exchanger isnt the worst to remove to be honest, or if you have a powerflush machine try just flushing the boiler without the system connected

Heat exchanger is not the worse I know. should be ok to dismantle. I will admit it is a old system but you would think the magnaclean would catch what I could not clean. Not sure if to dose the whole system with X200 and leave in system as well. This could just agrevate the situiation. I feel convident I will be able to clean the heat exchanger pretty well.

A strainer is a good idea.

Are you sure it isn't a pump problem. Impeller not spinning even
though the shaft is.

Flakes from the radiators can be a real problem
especially for plate heat exchangers.

It must be a little more complicated that that!

They are part of a large group based in Ireland which also own the Stoves cookers with whom I have a great complaint.

I gather they bought Halstead Boilers and initially marketed them as Dimplex.

All up and working now. But Im a dissapointed in the Magnaclean I fitted. The Heat exchanger was pretty blocked up, all of which was magnetic debri.

The magnaclean was 95% empty so alot got through to course the problem, not as if it was full.

Are there better magnetic filters out there or am I expecting too much.

The magna cleans are prone to leaking and sometimes the magnets burst in them but I have never heard anyone say they didnt collect the debris, I use Spirotec with the magnet but wouldnt say it was any better performance wise than the magna clean
