Hello

I have a blockage in the pipe that goes from my kitchen all the way under my house and exits out by the back door, the problem happens about once every couple of years and i was going to try & unblock the pipe myself, my question is how do i get the cap on the pipe, i have uploaded a picture of the cap and the link to my album below, any help would be appreciated

With that one, you put a lever between those two nibs (projections) and turn anticlockwise, supporting the pipe fitting itself.
I'd consider hose flushing rather than rodding though - you don't want to split the pipe or knock any other joint off.

Any flat steel bar, that will turn the nibs....even a screwdriver will do if things aren't tight but a bar with 90 degree edges is best. Do support the fitting so it doesn't twist!

and make sure you keep it painted black - that`s a nice bit of copper there  - it goes a way under the house too - I wonder how much would break off if someone got a set of 36" stillsons on it

Blimey Nige - you got hawk-eyes just like p!key. Hope for the OP's sake you don't live in London too.

So what are the right tools.....i reckon i could get it off with a large adjustable spanner but i don't won't to break it.....

The right tools:

Commercial drain jetting machine or k60 drain cable machine.

What you might find is that because it goes from one end of the house to the other, these type of pipe doesn't have a good fall on it. So it could be badly blocked.
