i have recently moved to a new house and have replaced various room lights with spot type lamps which take r50 type spot bulbs, the bulbs are blowing very frequently which in turn blows the trip, is this normal.
It is also normal for MCBs to trip when bulbs blow.
As for the bulbs, if they are rated at 230V, then I've read that their lifespan will be virtually halved when operated at 240V.
And please no replies about our supply being 230V now - we may have signed up to a 230V nominal, but 240V falls within the allowable range and I've seen no evidence so far that the generating companies have decided to knock 8% off their revenues....
