With the recent cold weather can blue MDPE PE Alkathene Pipe freeze and burst. I have a spur from the house supply into my garage it enters the garage through a hole in the floor slab, I'm worried because the tap has been freezing up so I've installed a tube heater with frost stat near it but the length of pipe running through the concrete slab isn't protected. The pipe has a good wall thickness unlike copper pipe so if it freezes will it split.

We're also on a meter so we've a lot to lose.

Regards,

Bill

The blue poly can take quite a bit, but will split, although the fittings are likely to come off first.

Turn off the garage supply when cold.

Blue MDPE is supposed to be underground, where it is warmer. Saw a volcano last week where you can fry chicken from the heat.
