Depending on your current abilities the easiest thing may be to contact a local controls company and sub for them. Like so many other genres it grows on you.
YT have some reasonable videos on BMS's. E&A, (Engineering and Automation), show things from a beginners point of view and explains the different components and terminology. I have limited use of the BMS in work simply because no one has been available to instruct me properly. I am now working my way through the videos to further my understanding.
