Hi
My boiler was making some banging noises which I researched and thought that it was heat exchanger limescale causing hotspots. I used Fernox descaler over a week and then added inhibitor. This worked a treat and stopped all the noise, I was well chuffed :D A month or so later and all the banging is now back again, the boiler is in garage adjacent to my bedroom so it is very annoying. :(

Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this issue?

Hi Breesy
The pump seems OK, I haven't noticed any noises or anything abnormal.

What did you have in mind?

It may appear normal but could be fading. How old is the pump? Does the banging always happen when the boiler is running? Turn pump up full and see if the noise stops.

What type system do you have?

Yes the banging (popping noises) are coming from the boiler exchanger (I guess) and only when te boiler is fired up.

The pump is old as the boiler about 7/8 years (Halstead boiler) and this has been a right pain (noisy, vibrating fan; PCB failed) etc etc. I would replace it if I could do it myself and get it checked by a CORGI man. ;)
