Boiler clicking and cooker flame flickers

Hi
We have a Glow-worm Ultimate FF boiler. Recently (last 2-3 weeks) it has started making clicking noises in quick succession that are accompanied by the pilot light switching on and off and the flame on the cooker flickering. Does anyone have any idea what this could be down to? The engineer will be coming this week, I just wanted to get an idea of what the cause could be.

fault with boiler be it dirty pilot ,fault with igniter or lead or even gas valve solenoid
