Hi,

I had a 'specialist' working in my bathroom just above the kitchen and the boiler. He was exchanging the towel heater in the bathroom and made a lot of mess (water everywhere). Water went through the ceiling to the kitchen directly to the boiler.

The fuse has gone off in the socket I already exchanged that but boiler doesnt want to switch on. The programmer is ok because the lights are on. I had the old programmer so I checked with the old one to be sure that it is ok.

So something wrong with the boiler.

Can anybody advice me what could be wrong? Where shall I look or shall I call a specialist?

My boiler is baxi solo

Thanks for any help in advance

Peter

So the towel rail was from the central heating & now the central heating dosnt work. Have I assumed correctly?
If I have, I suggest you get him back.

Yes it was towel heater - CH but boiler doesn't work at all (also fot hot water)

This guy is not a 'boiler specialist' and he is saying that it is not his fault.

But what else could be if not the water from the bathroom?

the boiler was working day before

If it worked b4 he came & dosnt now. It must be his fault.
Anyway
Give all the info about your boiler & system & one of the helpful plumbers will give you some advice.

I am sure there is a problem with electricity because the boiler was wet.
Also, the fuse burned out but when I dryied the boiler and put the new fuse boiler doesnt fire up.

shall I get a boilerguy or I can exchange some parts in the boiler to make it work?

Maybe you should get boiler specialist round to diagnose and quote for repair of the boiler and if the fault was caused by water through the ceiling.

Then put it to your plumber and see what he wants to do about it.

Hi,

I have changed the fuse on the control motherboard and the green light boiler on is flashing but nothing else happening

Anybody has an idea?

Peter

Thought the green light should be on or off, not flashing!

Sounds as though water has dripped onto boiler and possibly pcb.

How could he make such a mess of a simple towel rad change?

But then thats why we all have to have such high cover on our insurance.

I think that you should tell the plumber that you consider the circumstances of the boiler failure indicate that its a s a result of his leaking water and suggest that he should arrange for a boiler engineer to fix it for you.

I am surprised that he has not offered to do this already!

Is he a member of the Institute? They have a complaints procedure.

Yeah
I see your point but the problem is the guy is college of our friend. He said that the guy is very good and cheap so we used him.

But now he is saying that this is not his fault. He also said that this is how it works when you buy a house which needs refurbishment.

I just hope that this is not gonna cost me more than £100 to fix this boiler.

Show him how a punch on the nose works ....... Then have him fix the issue

Ohh wait ..... This is a friend of yours ....... Use a plank of wood & not your fist

When will the public learn that you get what you pay for

If it has damaged the boiler It will probably be a lot more than £100

If he refuses to accept responsibility try your house insurance and say the old rad leaked onto the boiler.

Is he qualified in anything, does he have public liability insurance? Things like this are what make him cheaper than us professionals.

Ohh I dunno ..... I've made some monumental "Mess ups" in my time ...... Mind you I don't profess to be a specialist in anything that I'm not qualified to do ......
That said I can turn my hand to most construction related things...... Who said a lil knowledge wasn't a dangerous thing :D

Now wheres my operating forceps ..... I must finish that Lobotomy I started on the poodle

You all are right.

Fu...ing boiler still is not working and..... I have a leak from one of the pipes. The pipe is behind tiles.

God bless good weather.
