boiler firing up then shuts off

boiler works now and again but keeps cutting out ,fan doesnt always kick in was going to try and flush complete system incase of blockage somewhere ,its an old ideal system ( any thoughts )

Dont bother flushing, wont be your problem.
Old Ideal boiler....... go on give us a bit more info on model.
Some will say with an Ideal boiler your lucky its working at all!
