Hi All again.

As part of a decorate / re-plumb job in my house,
my boiler-room pipework is going to be tidied up.
Move zone valves / pump etc.

As the system is fully pumped, the water enters the boiler at the
bottom right and exits top left as per the fitting instructions.

As I'm sure you'll know, this is an old boiler. I don't intend to replace it until I have to......Anyway......the question......

While all the pipes are being moved, would there be any benefit changing my flow / return pipes to the other (aslo correct) boiler connections.
ie Water enters boiler bottom left and exits top right?

Marginally tidier in the room but are there any problems / benefits in changing the direction of flow inside the heat exchanger? Will it help shift any deposits ? Is this a bad thing? Should I just leave well alone?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ian.

You may have to move the thermostat phial pocket to suit, although it is 30 years since I installed one of these, so I could be wrong.

Yep perfectly ok to do this ,whether you will get the plugs and fittings out after all this time is another question

Not worth risking creating a problem.

Some boilers have dispersal tubes in the boiler which are placed when the connections are chosen.
