boiler flue

i have an old gas boiler fitted in a chimney and the flue goes strait up the chimney.had a qoute for new one but the plumber told me if i put a combie boiler there and the flue up the chimney it would cost more to run the boiler as it would have to heat the chimney to work propley is this true or have i been had in the bag to make it easy for him to install

I dont think you have understood what he has said.

If you have a back boiler it can be replaced in the same position although thats expensive.

Any other boiler combi or not will need to be located somewhere else.
