Boiler Flue

I'm re-plasterboarding my ceiling after having my new flat roof replaced.

I'm now working by the boiler flue and wanted to know a few things?

1. The name of the square plate on the flue/ceiling?

2. Is it safe to remove it whilst working around it?

3. What is it's purpose?

It’s just to make it look neat. Probably covering up a messy hole. Best advice is if your unsure about removing it just don’t.

Take it off and replace it when the new ceiling is up. Take care not to disturb the flue when plaster-boarding.
