hi there i was not sure if this is the right area to post but was just wondering if anyone would know if there are any schemes etc available to my nan would to make her entitled to a new boiler , shes 105 year old (yes an old girl ) :) and lives alone in a 3 bed semi and currently has an old potterton combi (10 years plus )which has has had numerous problems over the last few years pcb valves and switches and always have adviseries from homeserve each time its serviced and due to all the claims she pays over £80 a month for the boiler cover :x and advise would be welcome

Wow! Send my respect to your nan. Does that mean shes had 6 cards from the queen!

Does your nan claim any benefits? If she does she may be entitled to a grant or a free boiler. Have a search for warmfront ( although im not too shure if the scheme is still running. Failing that call the citizens advice bureau.

Ps. Can i have some of what your nans having!

If she's on pension credit or other benefits she may qualify, phone a reputable heating firm in her area and they should advise, if she's not on any benefits she'll struggle to get a free one.

im not sure on benifits ill ask my dad tommorrow when hes back of hols she does get state pension that i know of ,ill have a ring round soon as soon as havei spoke to my dad ,as far as im aware shes had on letter from the queen dont think she has one each year though. :D

I looked at a boiler for a landlord I do jobs for.
They got it replaced because the tenant had some benefits.

The tenant had two fairly new cars in the driveway his and hers and
all the family looked perfectly fit and healthy. I didn't enquire further.

So WTF entitles them to benefits!

This is what is wrong with the country.

My landlord was happy as he got a new boiler for free?! It's a crazy system.
