Hi, My boiler comes on in the morning but the burner light doesn’t come on. The only way is to turn everything off and reset it a few times until it comes on.

We did have to put the pressure up to 3mb to get it to work, but its now back to 1.5mb as the pipes were backing, apparently the water boiling and going out of the release valve? Is this right...

So the plumber changed the Boiler stat but still doesn’t work. I have read on this forum it could be my PCB 37, would it be worth me changing it to a PCB 41?

Help :(

Julsee, when did you last have the boiler serviced? This boiler is a bit fragile if not serviced annually, the build-up of combustion deposits mixes with the condensate to form a mush which may cause flame failures if not cleaned out. Additionally if your boiler has been oversized (and most spot rated boilers seem to be!) the short cycling (burning for short periods only) will exacerbate the problem.

So have your boiler serviced properly; not the British Gas 10 minute one ("we don't employ cowboys"), and make sure the condensate trap is flushed out.

Your "backing" (banging?) problem may be caused by lack of flow across the boiler, which indicates heating pump failure or a blockage, check the pump first.

It sounds like you have a sealed system, have the pressure relief valve checked to make sure it isn't leaking-by before reducing the pressure to about 1 bar cold. It should not go above 2 bar hot; report back if it does.

Hi, we had the boiler serviced in the summer as we had it moved downstairs and a new release value was also fitted. But this value seems to me pressed against the wall... It does release the water out side because I can see it has dripped.. so I think this is working.

Do you think as we have had the pressure and boiler sat up so damn high the water in the pipes is boiling escaping through the release value which is causing the value to bang against the wall...?

The only way I can get it started is by turning everything off resetting it all and turn the switch a few times.... Then it seems to ignite... It always whooses on the right time but doesn’t lite...

Ideal have told me to check the continuity across the probes.

Does this mean check there is a voltage across the spark generator?

or does it mean is there a voltage across teh spark electrode?

Then make sure there is a 5mm gap on the igniter

mmmm they say the pcb should be ok, check these...
