Boiler Startup - Potterton Promax HE Plus

I have one of these installed which is 5 years old

I've noticed recently since the recent cold spell that the boiler doesn't seem to be firing up firt time of asking, It seems to fail initially and then successfully ignite approx 1 second after. Once fired it works without any faults.

Im almost 100% certain that the boiler used to fire instantly and i might be hearing things but it seems to be making a bit more noise during the failure to fire process.

Any ideas what might be wrong or does it just need a good clean out ?

combustion seals on this boiler are very poor, it may need the front combustion seal changing, especially if the condensate has backed up after freezing in recent weeks

I always wonder why people expect that a boiler, when the manufacturers recommend annual servicing, should continue to work well after five years if they are never serviced !
