Just a quick one,

Is it fair to say that if I had my thermostat on my boiler set fairly low, but had the thermostat on my hot water cylinder set to say 80 degc, the hot water in my cylinder would only reach the temp my boiler is set to? The boiler would cut out on lower temp and never get to my hot water temp setting?

That 's correct . The water in the cylinder can never be hotter than the water in the boiler.

I hope 80C is just an example; the actual temperature should never be any hotter than 60C.

Theoretical question?
Immersion heater settings?
Faulty obsolete non-fail safe immersion?

Eh?

Yeah just an example. Was just playing about a bit that's all. I do have my water set slightly higher than 60degc, but not at 80degc.
