Boiler thermostat truths?

servotech, are you by any chance the servotech who do servo drive repairs etc?

No. they're nothing to do with me ( I'd never heard of them until your posting)!

I thought that I'd made that name up myself!

servotech is a two part moniker with the servo part meaning that I hope to be of assistance to others who post on here.

The tech bit meaning that I'm an JIB technical grade plumber (which the highest grading that a plumber can be) so you can be sure that you are getting first rate knowledge from my postings.

and you thought Agile was prone to shameless self promotion.

If you have a flow of 65c the return will be below the dew point and will condense in the heat exchanger, (at a differential of 10c ) I wouldent run a non condensing boiler at less than 75c on the flow.

I agree 65° a little close and 70° would be safer.

In reality the heat transfer on c.i. heat exchangers which is the type I was mentioning is relatively poor and the flame side fins are at about 10-30° higher temperature than the water inside.

A low water content copper type should certainly not be run with too cool a return.
