Hi All,
As its that time of year we are using our heating a lot more. As such I've just bled all of the radiators, but as I was topping up the system pressure a leak sprung from the lever operated ball valve used to control the inlet from the mains water. Pic below:
Now the valve doesn't leak when its closed, only when its open so obviously its not the connections at either end, I'm assuming then that the water comes through where the lever mechanism enters the valve to control the ball.
Is there anything I can do about this without replacing the valve?
Secondly if I do have to replace the valve, I can shut off the mains supply but am I right in thinking that gravity will dictate that when I release the boiler side that the system will chuck out all of the water in it above this level (ie all the upstaris radiators and pipes?).
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
