I have a potterton profile 80e. The boiler is calling for CH and HW but it will not fire up the pilot light is on. The pilot lights but then the spark continues to well spark as if it hasn't sensed that the pilot has lite.

it has been suggested that it is probably the flame rectification device is this inbuilt into the ignition. The spark appears to be coming from the electrode is this an 'all in one device' ignition and dectection electrode that would then open the main gas valve.

simple explanations for a simpleton appreciated

Checl all the leads to the spark electrode/ rectification are firmly in place.

Check resistance of lead.

Is the pilot flame as big as it should be and covering the rectification electrode?

If all the above ok then it's time to suspect the board.
