Went to one of these today with what was for me a 'new' cause of the hw going hot/cold.
Turned out someone had been fiddling with the sensor wires, as they were connected up wrong.
The store sensor white wire and the plate blue wire were reversed, and was giving incorrect store temp and switching the hw on/off.
As the store 'never' got to temp it wouldn't allow the heating to cut in either.
