Our house still has the original boiler, which is an Ideal E-Type with pump, open flue with flue running through the house to a ridge vent. Gravity system with cw tank in loft. Pipework from boiler goes up wall alongside it and into airing cupboard above.

As I'm doing more & more work in the house the boiler is looking more & more out of place, it is an eye sore basically, but also I want to be prepared for the day I need to change it.

As I'm looking at doing our bathroom this month it has got me thinking about changing th eboiler now.

The boiler is in the kitchen on an inside wall, and the bathroom is partially above the kitchen. The space that I forsee the new boiler going (outside wall) is still in the kitchen, about 3 foot away, but I'm guessing that pipeowkr altertations will need to be done from the bathroom above. As we want to put tiles down in bathroom I want to get quotes for boiler beforehand.

Just want to get some ideas of what I can do, so that I have an idea before I speak to the plumbers.

Both the kitchen & hallway have tiled floors, the gas meter is outside of the house on outside of kitchen, so I presume the gas main is underground kitchen floor and comes up to boiler. 1st off, would they be able to cap off this supply from outside, and run a new gas feed outside of the house then through the outside wall that the new boiler would be going on, and so not needing to dig up all the tiles in the kitchen?

I have a Hercal Grade 4 117 litre cylinder, is it likely that this would need to be changed when the boiler is done, or would it depend on how furred up it may be?

Its not surprising that no one has answered any of your questions.

They are mostly site specific and need someone to be there to see whats there and to give advice. Normally that would be your chosen CORGI installer.

Its quite possible to take a gas pipe outside and re-enter close to the boiler.

OK good, the main thing was the gas pipe wuestion - which you've answered.

Thanks.
