Hi folks,

I have started plastering under my stairs and I have pulled an old timber coat hanger frame off the wall revealing brickwork. I PVA'd the brickwork (1 in 3 solution) twice and applied bonding coat to about 8mm thick. This morning I intended to skim but I noticed small cracks throughout the bonding coat. Is it still ok to skim or should I remove the bonding coat and try a sand/cement mix? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it's just dried out a bit fast. I'd think it'd be fine to proceed but you might want to hang on for the advice of a "time served" plasterer.

By the way, the "time served" bit was a bit of a dig to certain members of this forum that think that you can only give advice to others if you've served an apprenticeship in that field. I.e. I'm not a time served plasterer so I should just keep my mouth shut.
Good luck
