Bosch BF61 Draining problem

Hi,
I have read through all the forum and there are numerous postings regarding dishwashers not emptying properly. I have followed all the advice and found glass in the sump next to the impeller. However, the problem of an inch of water in the bottom of the machine after it's cycle remains. If I repeatedly turn the dial to the end of the cycle, where the pump empties, the machine will drain down. Does anyone have any ideas?

an inch from where? the tub or the bottom of the filter?

An inch of water in the bottom of the tub. I am aware that the filter should be under water to act ask a trap.
