Bosch Classixx faulty - what would you do?

I have a common dilemma. My 11 year old Bosch dishwasher is showing the fairly common "check water" light and not pumping fully empty or the cycle is just stopping. I have checked all of the likely problems of blockages and stuck impeller but none were the issue. Even tried the tipping at 45 degrees in either direction The instructions to remove the side panel are poor but following them on you tube it still won't slide off as suggested. That would be required for the next stage - checking float switch and pump. So, the dilemma is - are there likely to be any service engineers out there who will look at it and give an estimate with no charge or shall I just scrap it given it is 11 years old. I can't see the point of paying somebody the likely £100 to look at it and maybe not fix it and even then I guess it could develop other faults. On the other hand it is a cracking machine in my opinion and has been trouble free up to now.

£100 for any mobile tech won't go far, especially if 2 visits and parts are needed

Almost certainly more cost effective to replace it

My experience with calling Bosch to Our dishwasher was pretty good. I'd first rang the dealer I'd bought it from, their comment was "5+ years old, replace" - rang Bosch, quoted the fault code, man turned up on offered date. Checked the fault code, then did a couple of tests, and replaced the part. Less than 45 minutes; cost was call out fee and part cost, in total less than £150. Machine is still going strong 3 years later.
The only part I'd say is worth while investigating and if possible, repairing your self is the control board ( and there is plenty on here in the common fault and how to repair).

There are still independent service engineers about who don't charge for call out, it’s just a question of finding them. That said 11 years for a DW is good, personally I would cut my loses and buy new with the best warranty I could get.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will haveone more try at fixing it myself (which is always rewarding in itself) then if I fail get a new one. Bosch have ridiculously started selling dishwashers with wifi - no non wifi models. This is beyond stupid and I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. Other brands like Milele are too expensive so I think I will go for a cheapo which all seem to be much of a muchness and ccept it might only last three years.

Let us know how you get on, my last Bosch dw had the problem you described and after and trying myself, it was scrapped. I suspect it was an electronic error manifesting itself as mechanical/a blockage

We had similar with one at work, turns out that a clear bit of plastic had fallen into the impeller and despite looking at it - it could not be seen.
Removing that fixed it.

So I pretty much stripped a lot of it down. Some of the clips were tricky and you tube videos not as helpful as usual. So I took the top off, first, then the side. The plastic inlet and waste tube cannister was coming off quite well which looked blocked as did the float switch along the bottom. Had a lot of trouble getting the tubes off but managed to. Then there was an electrical connecter in a different position to the one in the video. I just couldn't get it off and then it got quite wet so I gave up basically! Got it picked up by the bin men (well actually, the rag and bone men who come round before!) rather too hastily. Because it appears that was about the only model that can fit in the space. This is because there is a gas pipe 7cm from the back wall and 9cm above the floor. (don't ask!) which the Bosch recess went over. Now I can't find any of the cheapos with recesses that are either high enough or deep enough to clear it! One will be high enough but not deep enough and others the opposite. So maybe I'll have to get the gas pipes moved back a bit. That would require a gas safe gas fitter and I wonder how much that would cost? {Pic attached). It's not so much the cost of the Bosch mre the principle that I don't want Wifi in a bloody dishwasher.
