Cycle very long, (stays on 1 min for a long time),
Dishes not very clean and not dry.
Machine fills and empties water, sounds like it sprays ok,
Not sure if it heats the water.

Please help, Thanks

After reading similar complaints, I realise that it could be contact on control board.#

How to get to the control board?

Heater is under the base , pcb can have a relay fault check for dry joints , remove the top console panel.

You got the full E-number so we know exactly which model you have? (laser etched on the door lip).
You should check all heating components before automatically assuming the pcb is bad (heater, thermostat, NTC, heater-wiring).
Pcb is in the control panel RH side. If you have a freestanding model remove the screws around the inside of the door, take off the outer skin, then remove the control panel.

Thanks a lot.

full E Nr SGS43A12GB/27

free standing model

I've opened the sides but no obvious control panel.
RIGHT SIDE, a loop of flexi hose. Also at the bottom, I can see what I assume is pump motor, and some wiring.
LEFT SIDE, plastic assembly of waste water/fill pipe and water level switch.

Thanks for advice to check other heating components first, and then look at the control board.

My problem is that I don't know where the parts are (not obvious even with side panels off), and to be honest, don't feel like trying to pull the hole machine apart if I don't have to.

Your tips are much appreciated. thanks

I think you have misunderstood. The pcb is in the RH side of the control panel...the plastic panel at the front with the buttons. Not the RH side panel!
To get at it open the door & remove the screws around the periphery of the inner door (9-10 screws). Remove the outer door skin (pulls off) then carefully lift off the plastic control panel. The pcb is inside (on the right where the buttons are). Here are the constructional drawings to help you http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/Freestandingdishwasher/SGS43A12GB/27 Click on the "spare parts list & diagrams" bookmark, then scroll through the pages. The control panel, pcb etc is on page 1...the heater assembly is on page 4. These drawings contain everything you need...the entire machine construction. Clicking on the various part numbers on a drawing brings up a description of the part & its price (some with photos). You can download the whole thing as a pdf file.
How old is this dishwasher anyway???

got a new multimeter.

voltage from control board and into heater ok - 230V on red wire.

no resistance reading on heater.

So I assume that the heater is dead.

You got 230v across the heater element terminals? If you can't read 25ish ohms on the same terminals then the element is O/C. Bad news it that you have to buy the whole "instantaneous water heater". You can't buy the element stand-alone.

Thanks a lot for your help Zipper.

I'll have have a think whether to replace the heater on 9 year old machine or just call it the day...

Cheers.
